Charlie's third birthday fell on a weekday so his party would wait until the weekend. However, we did mark the occasion by taking the Howland posse to the Lazy 5 Ranch. It's a wonderful local ranch of many acres housing exotic animals such as zebras, rhinos, giraffes, buffalo, ostrich, emus, llamas, camels, and more! You can buy buckets of food and feed the animals right from your car. The highlight of the trip was definitely the giraffes that came to visit us through our sunroof! Check out the pictures...they were so cool. I couldn't get over how enormous their heads were close up. They are beautiful!
Once at home, we gave Charlie his big birthday present. A tractor! It was pretty heavy and he couldn't peddle it very well back in April. However, now he is a tractoring afficionado! Finally, we closed out his birthday with his first GFCF (gluten and dairy free) cake (we discovered both kids are allergic to gluten and dairy products...fun fun fun).
